I am looking for any genuine recommendations for someone, anywhere in the UK that could help me get on top of saving my 1992 Sprite.

I have had it for 14 years (since I passed my test and didn't know a thing about cars) and have learned as I have gone along mechanically. But I am losing the will with the bodywork side of things. I just don't have the skill, knowledge, space or equipment to do what's necessary. I just can't get on top of it. I have been thinking for a while that I would just take the plunge and pay someone that knows what they are doing to strip it down and completely restore it.

A couple of things:
1) I know it's not worth it! I know I'll probably end up spending more in the restoration than it's value but I love it and want it done.
2) I know it won't come cheap. I have a bit saved up that I can throw at it BUT I do have a limit. I know the full scale of the job won't become clear until it's been stripped down so don't expect an exact quote, but I do want a rough idea.

If anyone could help me with some recommendations for someone that won't Rio me off. I don't need it doing quickly, maybe over 6 months or so.

Thanks very much, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Admin, please move to a more appropriate place if this post isn't ok here.

Top man would have to be Ben O (see his many project posts with customers cars). If money was no object, and I didn't mind sending my car to the Isle of White, that's where it would have gone.

Thanks Rich. It's a long way but I'd happily take it there if I thought it would be in safe hands. Does Ben have a website?

Either use the website above or send him a pm on here.

I can vouch for his excellent work at reasonable rates, and with the bonus of spending time on the lovely isle of Wight

Who did you have in mind Nicklouse? I asked the question on here a while back (Yorkshire Bodyshops/restorers) but drew a blank. I've already sent the car to a local place, but would be interested to hear who you recommend.

DJ Autospray/Cumbria Classic car restoration. Just used them for some work and they are very good! They specialise in VW Campers but do everything. Escorts, karmaan ghia etc etc. One lad who works there has 3 or 4 minis. And his estate was in mini world.

Based in Penrith Cumbria

Thanks to those who recommended me. :-)

I would be happy to give a quote for the work. My e-mail address is [email protected] if you wanted to send over some photos and a list of what you want doing.

Cheers

Ben

I’d second Ben O
First class work carried out by a true mini enthusiast

Not used them myself but I read good things about the Real Mini Company who are based in South Oxfordshire.

Still not close to you might be worth contacting them for a quote...

Would have to disagree with this, from first hand testimonials!
