Who Makes A Decent Fuel Filter?

Ive got one of those generic fuel filters from minispares and its absolutely useless, the plastic mesh is too big to catch anything. As a result, crap coming up from my fuel pump keeps jamming the needle valve and making the carb overflow petrol, and god knows what its damage all the debris is doing to my engine.

For carbs, Ryco have good ones;-

I do agree with what you've found with the mesh type ones, I've seen a few engines wear prematurely from them.

My favourite is the Ryco Z92. It's got a 90 degree angle, so good for going from the bulkhead to the carbs.

Any good auto shop will have a huge range of fuel filters. They should be able to find one that matches your fuel lines

I wonder why Minispares keeps on selling cr*p!! All filters should specify the mesh microns and usually one can see a filter's true efficiency by looking at its filter surface area. That filter is not cheap either at 10 quid.
Fortunately here in SA we have a good old GUD plastic cased filter which works well.

Here's some that should be quite OK;-

Pretty much any filter that has a paper element should be fine. Avoid the gauze types.

Sounds like its time to clean out the tank and lines, there shouldn't be any muck in the system anyway.
