I am posting here for Rolf - he PMd me his question but I am sure it is meant for the forum.

Rolf you can take it from here....

Hi to UK,

I am writing from Germany and I have a big problem. I am the owner of a 1969 Morris Cooper Mk2. No I have the problem, that the left door makes trouble, The upper hinge is out of order. I changed it and install a new one. But now I have the problem to adjust the door. It scratches always on the b-pillar.

There were small plates on the inner screw. I read that you need the plates to adjust. Hangs it down - plate on the down screw and up the other way round. But from my point of view- it reduces or extended only the length of the screw.
Where is my mistake.

Do you have a hint for me. It is to exasperating.

Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Rolf

i think the use of plates to adjust the way the door hangs is only valid for internally hinged doors

is the problem that the pins and/or bushes in the hinges have worn which allows the door to 'drop' slightly - check by opening the door and trying to lift it.  if the pins are good it shouldn't move (..much..)

Thank you Kts.

The pins are okay.

When I bought the car (long time ago) there were 3-4 washers on the pin near the door. Why?  On the other side also.

With the new hinge and fixed pins the door hangs. Not at the top and not on the down side. In the middle at the b-side. In the past the door fits.

Any other idea.

Best Regards to UK and thank you.
