Years ago ran in to a dear in a Cortina.

Well as nobody has bothered so far I will.

What was the deer doing in a Cortina?

to be honest, it doesn't look 'too' bad
How are the doors and the back quarters? they warped at all?

I'd say you were luck not to have been hurt. I'm surprised the car held up so well really. A colleague hit a deer with his Volvo a few years ago, that was a write off.

Hopefully the Mini can be repaired.

We were very lucky. I believe the fibreglass and carbon fibre helped as it pushed the deer away rather than crumpled inside the car. Im still shocked that the windscreen didnt smash!

The radiator bracket to the cylinder head is snapped in half lol.

The insurance examiner has been out and not looking good!!

He didn't say officially but believes its scrap as the passenger door and A post have been pushed in. Also the damage to the scuttle.

Im devastated to be honest. 😭😭😭

If you survived a fairly nasty accident with no injury to yourself then thats the main thing.

Ouch!!!

Glad not any other major damage done. At least it can be repaired.

I hit a badger years ago when in another Mini had, but thankfully I hit it square on and it was a fairly small animal so only damage was broken number plate and dented bumper. As I had a sump guard on the Mini it skidded up over the badger. Killed the badger though. They're like hitting concrete!!!!

I once saw the remains of a Range Rover after it hit a Stag (not the Triumph variety) at about 70 mph. It did not end well for either party. The Rangie pretty much had no front end left, the front wheels were pointing in opposite directions and there was little to no radiator left. The Stag (which had been a pretty big example of staghood) was on the verge, the road and the Range Rover. Not necessarily all attached to each other either.  :X

You were very lucky Petey!

Glad you are okay, I'm impressed how well the mini stood up, lucky you caught it slightly to one side and had seat belts...it would have been a totally different story otherwise!

Update from the insurance company.
They have classed it as category S total loss and valued the car at 2.5k
They have offered me 2.5k to take away and scrap or 1.9k to keep so ive decided to keep and do the work myself for less that 500 and pocket the rest so happy days!!
I really didnt expect anything like that so very pleased to be honest.
