Ok she's only a mini 30th but have a feeling her history makes her a one off car.

 

At the spritely age of 9 months her first owner decided a Cooper conversion was the real deal.

so she had an ex works 998cc unit fitted. certificate spec sheet and invoices present.

 

from early 1993 she went to the Dale family staying there until 2015 when she came to me.

Mr Dale was an old school Leyland engineer he looked after servicing etc until she reached 74/5k miles

from there the old fella rebuilt alices engine, lightening and balancing at the same time from the looks of it.

 

Unfortunately he could not refit the rebuilt engine so she came to me.

 

She's all back together resprayed with a myriad of new parts

 

love putting history back on the road with my part done now.

Cooper conversion cars are rare, but I've seen one or two for sale.

done a bit more digging for any of you peeps who happen to own a cooper conversion and are not sure of what they have.

 

Yep there rare how rare is an unknown factor, and there are bods out there fakin them..

 

998 is the true cooper conversion

 

Original black plastic document wallet from cooper garages. Last known £80 on ebay

 

someone was offered a mini (no specific series) with a 998 conversion resprayed looking good 7k

 

The cooper garage on the black wallet is still trading and contactable, maybe they still hold original records have not checked that side yet.

 

Alice a 1 off in the 1500 of her type a little more than likely and i'm not asking 7k

Erm, if the Cooper garage you are referring to is John Cooper Garages, then it has been shut for many years and they did not keep any car data.

yes rang the one in Worthing this morning and 19 years ago it closed changed to a Honda garage Shame there u go sign of the times I suppose

There are 2 John Cooper Garage conversion Mini 30s here in Northern Ireland - one of each colour. Both have the twin carb conversion and head work, along with the Cooper conversion centre exit exhaust system. Both cars have all of the documentation to back up the conversions. I've seen the Cherry Red one at the local shows here over the years, but only seen the black one once in a private collection. This car was in mint and unrestored condition with only delivery mileage. An absolute beauty.

 

I have heard of another Cherry Red one here too that has been converted to Cooper spec and also has S brakes to run on 10" wheels but I've not seen this one. I'm not sure if it's a real conversion or someones own upgrade.
