Hey guys!

Ive recently picked up another mini, and, although Ive had mini for many years now, this is going to be a massive learning curve due to it be an spi!

So my first question is regarding alarms and immobilisers...

Ive done lots of searching but Im still unsure on what I might have.

Its a 1994 sprite spi. It starts and runs. I only have keys, no fobs or anything. But behind the dash trim is a small black box which I believe is to do with the alarm and/or immobiliser..?
Theres no dash, just standard 2 clock binnacle, so no idea where the red led should be if it should have an alarm...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Okay the alarm system can be either 3AS ( 1 button fob) which is relatively easy to bypass or 5AS (2 button fob) which is not.
Red led is in the 2 clock binnacle if present. Sounds like you don’t have an alarm/immobiliser and the black box is a dummy unit which were fitted to some cars.
Can you quote the part number off the “alarm box”?

On the binnacle, on the bottom left corner is a blanking cap, I guess where the led should, or would be if installed.

The black box has plenty of wires going to it, why would it be a dummy, very strange!

The sticker on it reads..

Hi there, is your 94 Sprite a JDM? look anything like the photo I've attached or the link to part at Somerford Mini?

If so it's the cat buzzer that is required for Japan and not an alarm in the strictest sense.
