Iam getting fuel mixing in oil.
Ive done all the trail an errors just checking with people whos maybe had this problem.
Engine was rebuild last year its 1275 bored out 1293 now.
I have changed my mechanical fuel pump with new one from minispares wasnt the problem.
I rebuild my carb hif44 and cleaned it in ultrasonic cleaner still not the problem.
I have tried my mates hif44 still mixing.
Ive played about with mixture screw made it run lean but still mixing.
Starting to think its my piston rings but wanted to ask before ripping it apart
Thanks trev

only two places (or three) fuel pump. change for an electric to eliminate that. carb not really unless the engine build is that poor....
compression test?
leakdown test?

Was new fuel pump fitted but i guess the electric one would be better off.
My compression is 120psi across all four. Starts and runs lovely.
Havent done a leak down test yet as need to grab one.

On my engines I renew the two gaskets(either side of the spacer block) and use a smear of sealant with them too, I've yet to have an issue in 8 years doing it this way, I also use sealant on water pump and basically any gasket

Did you change the gaskets when you renewed the pump?

Hi cal 84
How would the gaskets let fuel in oil? sorry if silly question.
I didnt have any gaskets for my old or new one. My engine builder said it was ok to use cardboard like cereal box.
ive noticed i have one bolt longer than the other so was only able to fit homemade gasket to engine side.

Ho,
The gasmet or lack of will only cause the oil to leak out all over the floor, certainly won't cause the fuel to get into the oil.
Cheers

The fuel leak is usually the internal pump diaphragm (between top and bottom of pump) fuel then leaks into the sump down the cam lever.

Cal844 thanks. Thats why i changed pump to brand new one. was hoping it was the problem.
I was driving car all winter and iam not sure when this started happening. So only thing i can think off would be my piston rings.

I think thats your issue here perhaps if you post your engine spec someone can recommend a needle to suit.

Just to confirm. So it could be bores damaged instead off rings.
The engine is a+ engine 1275 bored out to 1293
Runs hif44 carb.
What would a new needle do? My needle is bdl
