Hello i'm The Moog,

That probably sets me to a certain age group.

I have purchased a 1968 Cooper, which has been.. well, butchered slightly. Someone (maybe you know who you are) has taken the back seats out, fitted (twice as I have two sets of drill holes in the floor) a roll cage, fitted a race petrol tank, cut away the inner arches etc etc.... screwed the battery in a tool box to the back seat shelf..

Good bits are that it has a 1275, 11 stud that im informed has been bored to a 1380, the bodywork is in good order, electrics work (mostly).

So I have sourced a new interior Mamba bucket seats for front (don't quite fit as yet) and standard back set.

I have a feeling I may have a few questions over the coming months and would appreciate the help.

Its a Poppet though.

A little way forward.

Heritage certificate proves it is Tartan red and Black.

Was sold down in Southsea - strangly where we moved to Lincolnshire from!

Had him inspected - as predicted alot of previous "work " has been carried out... this now needs correcting. About 8K

Suspension is so tightened down that if you run over a worm it knocks your teeth out, so a job for the weekend to release the spax... these are going anyway in the rebuild, as are the minilites and yoko's.

The transformation has begun. Starting with the boot floor, replacing coil overs, reinstituting the rear seats and putting seat belts in the back.
Found that the strut supporting the engine was not attached, threads ruined...
Petrol overflow from carburettor was replaced with an air filter on it would drip petrol onto the hot engine...
But... here’s a few pictures.
Chap doing the work is excellent.

Good effort! Will be worth putting all your work in the projects section as not many people look in the introductions.

Hi Steve220,

Any idea how I can tag this to the “projects section”?

Cheers.

Looks a good project. I’d put the drip rails back on too. Unless it’s the photos, they appear to be missing.

Looking great so far. I'll be watching the progress from the States.
