Just wondering on peoples thoughts on fitting a mini spares evolution 001 camshaft to an spi engine, would it work? Looking at the specs (to me) the cam profile is similar to the Kent 274 cam with slightly more duration and less lift. As the current stock cooper cam I have is u/s, I thought if it will work with the ecu it's a cheap upgrade

001 lift: 0.263in 0.285ex
Dur: 254in 274ex

274 lift: 0.284 0.280ex
Dur: 248in 274ex

Why not go with a cam that is designed (or known to work with) with the SPi motor like a Piper BP255 or Swiftune SW5? Why take a chance or get something thats not quite right? If you are going to have to pull the motor to install, makes sense to get the best item for the application.

Are you thinking about this for a road going car?

The SPi is quite tricky to tune on a standard ECU and keep within MOT emission limits. As a cam change is an engine out job, I would stick with brivinci's advice.

Minispares do an SPi performance cam & it seems a reasonable price.

Otherwise, why not contact Minispares & ask if any of the gang there have tried this? They are STILL one of the best resources out there IMO.
