Just got my mini ready for paint and boom goes the compressor :(
Can any one help it’s a 4 hp twin pole 240v single phase motor . I fitted a new capacitor and that lasted 1 minute then boom . Can any thing other than the motor cause this to blow abit reluctant to buy a new motor if something on the compressor would cause it to blow ?? Pump it free moving ! And when it blow yesterday there was no pressure in tank as it only ran for less than a minute .
Help please as mini is desperate for it’s top coat .

Looks like the centrifugal start contacts are not opening, causing the start cap to overheat.

Thanks for the reply and link my motor turns out to have a start and run capacitor so no switch. The shop that gave me the replacement capacitor gave me the wrong type just a start one rated 250v not a start and run type rated 450v . So there giving the correct one so fingers crossed that works if not it's a new motor .
Cheers

I've had the start windings (iirc that's what they're called) go on mine before which eventually lead to the capacitor going.

Replaced it and it lasted a bit longer but eventually went again.
