I have fitted a small plastic fuel filter between the mechanical fuel pump and the carb. I noticed that the filter was only filling up to the bottom of the mesh inner of the filter. The filter is fitted the correct way, the arrow is pointing with the fuel flow. I ran the car without the fuel cap and the filter level rose to full. Now even with the fuel cap off it won't fill the filter. Any ideas please??

Yeah it goes well. No fuel in the oil. Maybe a fuel blockage between tank and pump

maybe the filter is above the tank therefor fuel will settle to the level of the tank

Yes I thought that but surely the filter should fill fully

I've recently fitted one to mine, it looks like sometimes it's full and sometimes it isn't! If the car is working properly then I shouldn't worry about it.

Easter Ben. When the level in the filter is low the car takes a while to crank to fire up

I'll check the level in mine the next time I start it up. One evening I noticed it was almost empty, the next morning it was totally full, though I hadn't run it in between!

The best place to fit one is on the line as it comes out the boot floor, so that it is always full due to gravity.
