thank you all for the helpful replies. I know for a fact that nothing has been changed on the suspension for at least the last 7 years so new cones is where I will start. thanks again, will keep the thread updated.

I put a set of Smooth A Rides on a friends Mini and they were fantastic - I wish I'd done them on my car instead of stock rubbers - I highly recommend them for ride quality.....couple that with a new set of good shocks and you're as good as it gets with a Mini.

Most I know who have fitted them have also said the same - for a while. They have all found they also sagged really fast too.

so from the sound of it, "stock" / "factory"  cones are the way forward.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction for where best to source these items please? thanks again.

EDIT: Just to add, if i am going to the trouble of new cones, i would probably replace the shocks at the same time so any advice on which to go for woud be great. The car is really only going to be for road use. I have a "fast" car for when i want to go fast etc. Just want to keep it simple and fun without compromising the cars ability to go fast around corners

There are no 11" wheels

But have you seen 16" tyres that state 'do not fit to 16.5" rims' on the sidewalls! Huh? ;-)

Not to hijack, but a few years back there were some poor quality springs on the market, does anyone remember the name?

Was it Valley Rubber?

I doubt it would have been those from Valley Rubber, they were made on OEM tools to the OEM Rubber Recipe. I've used loads of them.

Thanks, just trying to determine approximately how old the ones I replaced are.

Use Red spot cones from Minispares. Kyb Gas Adjust dampers

I'd also advise Hilos and knuckle joints all round as the absolute minimum.

Budget for refurbished radius arms and front top arms too
