So I’ve just installed my newly built 1132cc engine. It’s had a new water pump and stat. The Coventry flat top rad was recored with a 3 core uprated bore.

The engine has done about 250 miles and is fine on the flat. As soon as you get to hill and I mean a big Exmoor style 1:5 3 miler I boil over by the time I get to the top.

Any ideas please?

Thought I should add that I did an oil change today and over filled the engine by about 1/4 litre. Not sure if this would cause overheating though. Oil pressure sits at 70 at normal revs on the flat at normal temp (190F).

Should be fine. Set up by a very well renowned race engine builder only 200 miles ago. Mind you I just found an 88 degree stat in it. Swapped out for a 74. Beaulieu here we come. Only a 300 mile return journey do that should shake down any other issues.
