I recently bought this mini so thought I'd share some info here.
I understand it started off in th UK as LHD, then spent some time in Japan. Somewhere along the way it was converted to RHD, and has had some mk 1 fittings added. Probably not for the purest, but I really like the way it's been styled, and it feels and looks like an older model.

I don't really know everything that's been retrofitted, but I'm guessing quite a lot of the interior and exterior trim. I also understand it's not the original 998 which was a bit of a bummer as I think it's older. When I bought it, I had to get a lot of the wiring fixed, and I had a stage 1 kit fitted at the same time.

Feel free to comment, regards, rod

I like the look of your car, someone's certainly gone to considerable effort to give it the period style.
Does look like the A+ engine has been swapped for an earlier A series too.

Looks a great car, like the mods, only thing that I would possibly change is the seat colour but that’s just my thoughts.

Welcome. I love the retro styling of your car, from the colour to the door mirrors. It really looks good.

Thanks for the comments.
The seats aren't as bright as they appear and I was told they were mk 1. I really like them.
The carpet is a bit grubby but it's a shade of green which matches nicely. I'd get new fitted carpet but I'm not sure black would look as good against the green and red.
I also wouldn't have put on the Cooper badges, but I like the look, and it would cost me to remove them so they are staying as well.

I'm trying to decode the engine number....is there any way to tell approximate age...99H 249 H4040...one site indicated it might have been an auto?

cheers

Hi Chris. Thanks. I tried that site but it goes no lower than 285 and I don't think I tells year. Hadn't thought about nations to be honest.

It's currently in getting the rust removed that it wasn't supposed to have according to the PO
