Hi,

Do anyone know where to find an acid dipping company in Essex or Cambridgeshire? I have stripped my mini completely and would like to send it for a dive ? but can’t find anything close to home

I am told that the galvernising people at Witham do so for future reference.

Unless you want to go and get it back !!

thank you, i might give them a ring. this company right? http://www.wedge-gal...ip-galvanizing/

I've already sent the mini away for treatment but if I can find a local company that does the final treatment to future proof my investment then sure I will use them.

I can't say for sure, I've not needed the service, I just know there's a firm there somewhere

Maybe too late now but just found the post....

Acid dipping a Mini is not advisable because of the seams and overlaps in panels, fine for a car designed for it, it caused problem on later Minis. I was only talking to Petrol Pete yesterday about it, his huge thread covers it some where....

A few that have been done a few years ago are rotting from the inside out. Spoke to a nice bloke at bingley about his and the photos are the evidence I needed not to even look into it further.

Interesting. Oh well it’s done now so nothing I can do about it. Truth is sooner or later the majority of the Minis die as a result of rust I guess.

After the cleaning process you are supposed to send it back for another bath of acid dip followed by another e-coating. I will take the gamble as a brand new shell costs too much.

I wonder if those who expose the body shell to the initial chemical process followed it up by a final dip and e-coating with them. I am definitely no expert at all so I really believe what you guys are saying but it seemed like the best option to me. Time will definitely tell. I do not think a Mini is 'for life' sadly. Although I am committed to do the best I can with what i have.

Time will tell and I am gutted that I might have made a crucial mistake. I did the research the best i could...

Hi,

From what I've read you should only dip a car if the shell was designed and therefore dipped in the factory.

A recent post on the RSOC facebook page had comments including the horror stories and no one recommending it even for a MK4 escort...

No mention of post dip treatments...

Cheers  :proud:
