Aftermarket Dash

Best Answer Stu1961 , 13 June 2018 - 10:24 PM

The whole cluster is removed, then the instruments are removed from the plastic surround. There are four bolts that secure the cluster and its mounting bracket assembly to the bulkhead they are easily accessed from within the engine compartment. The electrical connections are all plug and play and are straight forward to disconnect/reconnect though if unsure taking pictures before disassembling will help.

I have a 1990 mini with the 2 clock gauges. Just wondering how difficult it is to install a aftermarket dash. Does the plastic housing pull off and the new dash goes over it? Or do you have to pull the whole cluster out. Just asking so i can prepare myself for any headaches. The Mini is a early 1990 carb model 998cc manual. Thanks for all the help you send my way.
