As you may or may not know my aim was to be able to drive my dad's pick up today around to the cemetery where he is buried.
The pick up was his pride and joy, and today, fathers day, I was able to take his car to him. It's still running rough but it made it there, and back. He would of loved it.
Thank you guys

Thanks for sharing that Charlie
Cars and motorbikes are (were) the common ground with me and my dad - probably like many here too ...
he died a few years ago but it still catches me out and I forget he's not around anymore..
so many happy memories being taught things by him and happy times with him at Santa Pod/ Brands and fixing cars up with him in the garage..
I just wish he was still around to share the fun i have with my mini -
All the best
Matt

I know that 'catch you out' feeling, my dad passed 7 years ago and I still have moments like that.
It sounds like you had some great times with your dad tinkering with cars, my dad wasn't very mechanically minded but always showed a massive interest with anything to do with his pick up and loved taking it to shows.
These types of forum are invaluable to people like me, I know I would of struggled at times to sort things

It takes a lot of worry away when you tackle a job knowing forums are there with people happy to share knowledge and experience
Best

Touching post. I lost a loved one recently. It's amazing how easily things like work, pride, ego etc. help us lose sight of how finite the time we have with them really is.
I hope you take care of his pride and joy. My personal belief is that we leave a little bit of ourselves behind in the things we loved.

Always think of my Granda when I see a mini pickup. He used to drive a tahiti blue one (with an amber light on the roof) as a parts collection / delivery vehicle for the local British Leyland dealer he worked for prior to retirement in the late 70's / very early 80's. Would love to have one in similar spec as a tribute to him.
