That carb is pitted(corrosion) but should be serviceable

where is it possible to get it searviceable? any guys that works with carbs would know how to do it?

Thanks

Agustin

The carb is really pitted, have you any photos of where the butterfly plate seats in the main bore ?

Has it been sand blasted ?

I dont know what it has been done to it, I bought it as refurbished, with every bit replaced (they told me that)

The 1st one with the brass butterfly shut you can see how there is virtually no gap where it seats in the body of the carb

The second one you can just see typical darkening where it does seat, but its smooth.

My concern is that yours may be pitted where the butterfly seats and you may struggle to get a low tickover / idle speed

The gap controls that when the butterfly is shut. When you adjust the idle screw you are opening and closing the gap between the brass butterfly edge and the body.

Understand you! I think the gap is very little and it closes really well. Also it opens perfect and returns as new. It seems to have been refurbished but the carb itself seems to have had better days

or just fit the longer top stabiliser bar.

I have the long top stabiliser as used on the late cars, an HIF 38 still won't fit, so yes id say to fit the later frame for clearance

Later subframes have the engine mount holes 1/2 inch towards the front of the frame

Ok so the carb body is ok in the butterfly area.

The only time you need a fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is on a Turbo car.

A standard Mini running an SU or Weber does not need an FPR with either an mechanical pump or electric SU or Facet pumps

Its an un-needed complication.

Did you just try the 44 carb to see how it ran ?

Do you know what needle it has in ?

Yes I had it fitted with a lot of needles like BBW BDL and BDK as I remember but none of them give me any good result

I know fitted a complete stg 1 kit and it runs much better and fuel consumption is much less
