Hey guys, maybe someone has experience in this.
I was wondering if it's possible to "dye" chrome parts or stainless steel copper colour?
I've always liked black+copper mix and was thinking of anodozing (not sure if that's the right term) all the chrome elements in the car. Mirrors, gearknob, air vents, steering wheel etc.

I have past experience with spraying plastic in a copper fake spray, but that wears off really quickly so looking for a more resilient method.
Thanks

Hi,

Alloy parts can be anodised a gold colour but I'm not sure about chrome plated steel though. You could probably get that actually copper plated but it wouldn't match the gold anodising.

Cheers  :proud:

You can copper plate stainless steel with no ‘base’ plating. If you have steel then they need to be nickel plated first and then copper plated. It’d have to be quite a thick coat as you’d ware through quickly polishing it as it would tarnish.

As said the process of anodising is for aluminium.
