Hello,

Could you help, I have a 1998 Mini Cooper, been in storage for 6 years and now back on the road.

I have a new battery as I thought this was faulty and was replaced by RAC, however there is a battery leakage and so I have installed a Cutout switch and a trickle charger for when it sits in the garage.

The problem is if I disconnect the charger and don't switch on the cut out switch it still drains the battery in 24 hours, not even a light on the dash panel.

Can a battery still drain if I  disconnect the Neutral?

Your help would be appreciated.

How old is the battery? Generally batteries will be less effective or totally dead in about 3/4 years in general use.

It may have sat around for a while, I've had it where a battery was sat on the shelf at my suppliers for at least 6 months. When I'd bought it I charged it, it would struggle to start the standard A+ I had fitted.

I returned the battery to the manufacturer and requested a new built battery. It's been perfect ever since

If its ever been left to go completely flat 0v it will never give 100% again, get the battery tested is what I'd be doing next/
