'99 MPI
Over the last month it became harder and harder to start, turning over but not firing. On Tuesday it wouldn't fire up at all, after fiddling with the HT leads, giving them a blow out and wiping down debris off the plugs did the trick and it started right up, in the last couple of days it's started up well again but has stalled at idle, revs at 850ish, on the road it's started stalling in all gears at low revs. Also, oddly the stereo lost power, dunno if that could be connected or completely separate.
Can some one give me pointers as to what the problem might be and how to fix it.

Ideally you need to plug it into a code reader. But first of all Chech the vacuum lines and fuel trap for deterioration and splits

I wonder if it could be the battery giving up, low voltage will play havoc with an ECU, or maybe the alternator

Any other ideas please it's not the battery.

What mileage is on the car? Have you tested the fuel pump? Cleaned the idle valve? Alternator ok? Dodgy earth strap can cause starting issues
