After a recent oil change I have an oil weep from the sum plug. It's slight but not small enough to completely ignore. For the oil change I used as always a new copper sealing washer. I have nipped up the bolt a couple of times but don't want to take it any further. I'll try a dowty washer but just wanted to check the correct size as there is some conflicting information in previous threads, and some sizes are expressed in BSP.
Many thanks

I think its classed as a 5/8 UNC thread...

my vernier is 4 miles away at the workshop so can't measure one.

I have it in mind that a Ford Mondeo one works, possibly could be M18?

I used a Dowty Washer when refitting my sump plug, I'm fairly sure it was 3/8 BSP.. I think the I.D. of the washer was around 14mm if I remember correctly, it was a similar size to the original copper washer anyway.

The Plug, as Retroman has mentioned, is 5/8" in diameter.

You'll only need a Dowty that's around that inside diameter, which will be 5/8", 16 mm or 3/8" BSP.

I've not used a Dowty Washer, however, the Red Fibre ones are also good, cheap and really easy to come by.

M18 wasn’t too far out then!
I’ve used the Mondeo ones from Halfords a few times - they’re snug so you have to carefully screw them onto the sump plug

I don't see why an M18 one wouldn't work, the head on the plug is well big enough.

Thanks everyone, I picked up a M18 as one was available locally. Fingers crossed.
