Hi, I'm struggling, I'm trying to remove the earth's under the bonnet to give them a clean. The nut is square not hex and there's no room for a socket or spanner on the bolt because of the earth's ring. How on earth do you get these off???? Any tips welcome I don't want to send it to a garage for such a basic job!

Whereabouts are you looking?  There's more than one earth point and they moved dependant on year - photo?

Chances are the nut is welded body.

If they're square, they're welded on, you need to get the bolt off from the other side

The square nuts are usually welded on.

If you can't get a socket or spanner on the bolt head for the ring or wire connection the wire, it needed bending flat so you can.

I would also say you may be creating more problems than it solves.
