Hello everyone!
 
Just going to introduce me and my mini here really quick.
Got around and bought the first mini that I saw when I was a kid four years back.

It had been a project that halted for someone and had been standing in a barn for 10 years.
It has been an on and off project for awhile now but it's first now that things have gotten up to speed.
 
It's a Mini 1000 mk3 from 73/74.
This is what it first looked like when I went and picked it up, engine was out and in a million pieces.
Got 3 engines and gearboxes with it, and almost 12 boxes full of mini stuff!

This is the current state of the mini, about to leave it at a bodyshop next week for metalwork and later on a fresh coat of pain.
Hoping to have it up and running next year.

Thank you, might need it hehe :) Yeah they're really nice, although i'm looking at maybe buying JBW OS4 Turbo 10x6 they are really sweet :)

Great way to go about especially a first project? While the body's away being repaired and painted you have the time and space to restore all the bits to go back on when it's ready.

Indeed! Going to take it away tomorrow, just started my vacation :) And then just have as much fun with refurbishing and order some new parts. And yes this is my first mini project but so far everything feels good. Got a little mini heart-attack when I read the thread about the oversill-thing. But everything seems to be in order on my car thank god. Previous owner was a nitpicker with rust so I must say that the body on the car looks really good.

I found the easiest/ cheapest way to restore rusty parts was to give all the parts you can reach a good going over with a wire cup on a grinder then get a media blaster to finish it off where there are hard to reach areas.  Then powdercoat the front subframe as the finish is then resistant to clutch/brake fluid. I used Deox C to remove the rust from all the fixtures and fittings and then had them zinc plated to restore their finish in either clear(silver) or yellow passivate as original.
