Just had my head skimmed so I have lapped the valves in and fitted new stem seals. Now I have fitted the valve springs I noticed the centre two caps are slightly higher than the rest. Is it meant to be like this. Standard 998 head and original valves.

Found the problem. Looks like previous owner must of used varying spring caps. I found two different ones in the garage. Fitted them now they are all the same height

the thing is is that it is neither right or wrong, it is what is is as there are so many variable. from the caps (as you have said) to how far in the seats have been cut. if the seats in the exhausts have had more cutting and lapping over the years then yes they will look taller.

All the exhaust valves are sitting the same in the seats. I swopped two caps and now the heights are all the same
