Hif38 What's This Hose For......?

Its the breather for the float chamber
Will also dump petrol in a safe place if the float valve does not work
Not sure how long the clear pipe will last, it should be a nitrile rubber pipe

Looking at a HIF38 carb in situ there is a hose on the left that points up slightly and a small diameter hose/pipe is connected to it.
What is this for,on my mini the pipe joins a solid pipe connected to the bellhousing but then does not go anywhere...
Does this seem right..??
Thanks all
