"An amateur film made by members of the Cleveland Cine Club and shot at high speed showing a phantom car journey through the streets of Middlesbrough and roads of Teesside. Across the Newport Bridge and into Haverton Hill and Port Clarence towards ICI where the protagonist in the film is nearly late for work."

Haha! I've driven around those streets many times.

Not much has changed either!

Hi,

If only there was so little traffic on the roads today we could all get to work on time!

Great film!

Cheers  :proud:

That is how I used to get to work in 1966, but my car was a 998 Cooper. I worked at ICI in Welwyn Garden City (Plastics Division).

Hitchin to WGC with no holdups or tailbacks!

What a pleasure to drive it must have been then.  Light traffic, few parked cars, other vehicles were nice to look at and very little road furniture cluttering the place.

Plus no speed humps/bumps, a NSL of 70 mph which was not widely enforced (no electronic surveillance), interesting cars with character rather than Euro-Boxes, no COFP's (conditional offers of fixed penalty for parking, etc), no mobile phones to act as a distraction, majority of cars British made, etc.

I drive my mk1 to work on dry days. The joy of living on Exmoor. Takes 17 minutes to cover the 10.3 miles to work unless a caravan holds me up.
