Being more of a technical guy and less of a designer, I'm having a hard time picking a colour (fully respray, stripped shell).
Obviously this is a very subjective subject, but was hoping you guys can help me filter the choices down with your best suggestions/personal vibes!
Really my guide is my gut, and then my head messes it up (it took me 6 months to paint the walls in my home). But you know when you go to a Mini show, and you see loads of different minis in different colours, some colours feel like they really fit, and you get that vibe in your gut that feels oohh yeaaah I really like that (without sounding like a 90s porn show), and others less like mmm not bad, but not special.
I want something classy but not exuberant, kinda similar to the spirit of singer porchers and other classy restorations, like smart but maybe a little different. Our minis are a bit of a personal statement after all, so I would like something a bit more personal, as I don't really want to copy someone else's choices... However maybe sometimes it has come to that a bit to get started somewhere. Smartly tasteful is key for me overall... Simple right ?!
Here's some paint jobs minis I really like :)
This one was amazing at MITP last year - the pictures don't do it justice
it's in french but the slighty trick brown orange red that changes with the light with a black roof is pretty nice :)
I believe this one is tweed grey, but I love the slightly green twist under this light, as it stays closer in line with the original colour (metallic light green sprayed onto 80s mayfairs...)
What are colours do you think REALLY suit a mini well, and what makes a nice balanced colour scheme on a mini - often it's the subtle contrasting in little areas that make the difference as in the photo above ?
