hello

 

my 79 1275cc mini ,

just finished very extensive service,

unfortunately there is a massive oil leak,

the other thing which i am worry about

after few miles i stopped for gas

a burst of coolent fluid got out (it seems to be from the overflow pipe )

what could have caused this kind of problem ?

How far full did you fill the rad? Above the fins or to the top of the tank? If its overfilled, expansion when parked after a run will push the excess out of the overflow, happend to me a few weeks ago after a hard drive.

fill rad about 1/2" below the ring where the cap seals

as i dont have any expansion tank .

Check the level again and it should be probably 1/2 an inch over the top of the gills as a minimum

 

if its less than that you may have a problem.

 

but It could just be purging air out of the system as it all settles down

 

top it up again (maybe a little less than before) and keep an eye on the engine temp and coolant level.

 

It may also be a rad cap issue...too short or weak

It’s seems to be about 1/2” under the lower ring

Happened to me yesterday.

Always carry water to top up, just in case.

hi guys

 

i noticed a new leak from the temperature transmitter 

change for new one but still a very small leak 

can i wrap it with any sealant ?

I found out my problem was a split in the bypass hose. This is rather annoying as it was a Minispares black Kevlar one that was only 3 years and 4000 miles old.
