I have a 1971 mini van 850 and has an old impractical "bus" steering wheel which i assume is the original and want something smaller. I bought a steering wheel which supposedly came off a Leyland mini but the spline didnt fit. Is the spline size different on a van or a car of this year?

No they are all the same from 1959 to at least 1992

Make sure you don't go too small I consider less than 12 inch diameter to be dangerous

Thanks, I'm assuming some idiot must have changed the spline on the wheel I bought to something else unless it never actually was for a mini

Aftermarket steering wheels usually have a removable centre boss which you can change to fit different vehicles, is you wheel like this?

Does it have a boss bolted to it? It looks just like one I had on an Austin Healey Sprite a few years back before I changed it to a Mota-Lita.

As Homersimpson has said, you can usually swap out the Boss in these types of wheels, but ideally, you need to identify the brand and in some instances, the type of wheel in order to obtain the correct Boss kit.
