Hylomar On Fuel Tank Sender Seal?

Best Answer NikOett , 15 July 2018 - 02:32 PM

All done without any drama. The Minispares sender that I picked up from David Manners fitted fine and everything is working again. Thanks for the tips.

One secondary benefit of siphoning out the fuel is that I now know that when the gauge is on the halfway point I have 20 l of fuel left Go to the full post

I'm about to embark on replacing the fuel tank sender on my 1989 Racing Green. I've read that this can be a little bit of a fiddle to get it fitted.

I've got a replacement rubber seal. Does it seal fine on its own, or would putting a thin layer of Hylomar on both sides of the seal help it in any way?

Thanks

I've only ever fitted them dry, but I also am really sure that the sealing surfaces of the tank and sender are really clean too.

No sealant necessary but I do put a smear of silicone grease on both sides just to help the locking ring when rotating it.
As Moke said, make sure the tank side and the sender unit are clean and lump free.
