Today I had been carrying out a few little jobs on my mini, I haven't used it for a few months hence checking it over.

After I had got it running (it played up)I noticed that the body of the wiper motor was getting hot to touch. (The wipers were not in use)

What I am after is some pointers to what could be wrong before I pull it apart.

The motor has a permanent feed (if the ignition's on) which is interrupted by the park switch on the motor. As well as isolating that supply the park switch also earths the +ve side of the motor windings it stops immediately and doesn't run on past the park switch.

I can see a couple of possibilities:

The wiper mechanism has seized so the motor stalls before it operates the park switch - do the wipers run when switched on?

The park switch has worn down so it no longer fully isolates the supply, or it's shorting to earth - pull the park switch from the motor & operate it manually to experiment.

The wipers work in both speeds.

Does sound like an issue with the Parking Switch
