This 1987 998cc Mini has gone through some upgrades.
MG Metro cam/electronic dizzy for fast road/flowed CAM4180 cylinder head/freeflow header and 1.75” exhaust/HIF36 carb
Now the idle speed is around 1100-1200rpm.
Is this expected?
Thanks.

Just adjust it down abit with the adjuster screw on the carb. If you can’t could be a small leak somewhere

The idle should be more like 900/950
What needle have you in the HIF38 ?
Has the mixture and timing been set ?
It should have a dyno run to set it up correctly as it is modified and they are all different

The Mini should have done a dyno run, but it did not.
The adjuster screw was adjusted but the idle speed could not run smoothly at 1000rpm.
So, it is not true that using a fast road/race camshaft would definitely raise the idle speed?
I suppose a standard needle in HIF38.
Thank you.

Mg metro cam is pretty well mannered. You need fuelling set up properly. Worth checking for air leaks though
