If you pack it all with plenty of grease when you reassemble it, and then try selecting the gears, if it is not working correctly, the bits don't spring everywhere when you take it apart again.

They should be pretty straight forward to re-aling and get back into the selector arms on the right.
Some jiggling backwards and forwards of both the main selector rod and the outer may be needed.
The outer sleeve wider part goes in the selectors with the main rod end in the same wide position turn the whole issue to the right
It can only really go in one way, the rod should turn freely once its in, which is the neutral position

pull/lever the outer (part 101) back into the position it was in in the first photo, then you will be able to line up the tang on the main selector rod (part No 98) with the slot in the outer?

I can't seem to get passed this stage. The lumpy bit on the end of the shaft is up against a part in the gear box
Is that metal filings to the left of the selector shaft? Could just be casting marks, but if it’s metal filings get them out of there! :)
Also as said if you look what your doing inside the box at the same time as moving the selector form backwards and forwards you should be able to line it all up correctly.

No it's the casing. So basically I need to pull the outer part back. Twist the other part around until it fits between the fingers????
Correct

That needs to rotate more clockwise.
