Thanks for the reply. The unit is only a couple months old and the cap tube does unscrew from the gauge.. Why would. They need the gauge as well?

what make is it?  only going on the ones I have used and seen where they don't unscrew.

It's a smiths unit. Recently purchased new however seems its past the 30 day mark which sucks.
Come. To think about it. I actually can't recall if I screwed the end into the gauge or not.

Not a capillary temp gauge .. they are sealed .. but if dual the oil pressure is a separate hose.

 

30 days? That's a bit short for a warranty .. who did you purchase it from?

No luck with a replacement. ended up buying a new one.... so far so good

Have you used an adapter?  I had to buy mine separately to the gauge.

Got the adaptor, just the job, will use the mechanical dual gauge now, leaving a spare hole in the dash for a 50mm tacho.
