Hi all, as a result of my late night online auction site addiction I am now the proud owner of a 1979 1275 GT. I know nothing about Mini's so I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions to ask soon.

I bought the mini as it's been adapted to tow behind a motorhome but having had it delivered today and taken it out for a spin I Love it, so the decision I need to make is keep it a a Tow Car or restore it back to original?

Here it is

If you tow it behind a motorhome on an A frame then you can only do it in the UK and France. Some other countries tolerate A frames others ban them.

Welcome to TMF

Don't be scared of asking anything on here, no matter how daft...worst thing we can do is laugh...hahah

There is a wealth of info on here and good people for advice.

Your looks like a really tidy motor....needs some original door stripes to give the 1275GT status it deserves

Reminds me of my 1st road car (a blue 1275GT) CFR167S, wish I still had it.

I was aware of that, at the moment it only seems to be Spain that have a problem with a-frames so I'll put it on a trailer when I'm next heading there. My reason for buying the mini was that it weighs less than 750 kg so perfect for towing behind a 7.5 tone motorhome without needing to take a HGV test

I have ordered the stripes today and she's booked in next week to have a little bit of body work done and a full respray, (same colour) it currently has a chrome front grill but i'm not sure its original, am I right thinking it should be black? what's your thoughts buy the black one or stick with the chrome?

I don't know that much about Clubmans but i think you're right in that the grille should be black.

I wouldn't get hung-up about details -the grille looks good & does the job.

Spend your time enjoying it, maintaining it, & trying to keep the rust mites at bay.

(besides which the wheels are aftermarket, & the interior is wrong- should be cropped nylon fabric seats May '76 on http://www.minipassi... range 1978.pdf http://mk1-performan...k/pdf/78-79.pdf)
