Has anyone removed the grille and put an intercooler in the gap?

Would this be a good idea and what does it look like?

Cheers for any info!

Will

Will,

I've seen it done before, its the best place to get fresh, cool air. However, you'll have to consider it will stick right out the front of the car!

Don't rule out using a charge cooler. You could put a simple set up on a side mounted radiator engine and have the cooling radiator in between the grill and the front panel (22mm core). I'm going this route as the MPi engine bay has little/no room for an effective intercooler set up, I've had to go custom charge cooler radiator.

Thank you, I'll have a look into that!

Some people space the grill a little for the intercooler to fit. Mine was like this on a round nose. But shouldn't be an issue in my clubman estate

Hi,

You can fit one under the front bumper, if you're creative!

There's mini city e turbo on here with a 998 turbo with the intercooler out front.

Cheers :proud:

Looks good! I'm going to have to start learning how to weld though!

Had the same thought.  Here's one kind of along those lines (not mine).
