Mg Metro Valve Clearance

Does anyone know the valve clearances for 1275 MG metro engine please?

0.012 inch. 12 thou. Both inlet and exhaust.

0.012" is OK for all A-series engines unless very high ratio rockers are fitted (like over 1.5:1)

 

For a valve stem to expand  by even half of that amount would mean the engine is seriously overheated.

 

The issues with changes to valve opening time is not relevant as it is very slight.

All factory engines, Including the MG Metro, had 0.012" recommended clearances.

According to the Haynes MG Metro manual ;

 

1982/3 inlet 13 exh 16

 

1985 on  both 14

 

Compression is 10.5 :1

 

the Turbo is 9.4 : 1 compression with valves clearances 14/16 1982/3 and 13/15  '84 onwards

 

Both compressions are half a point higher than I thought, I will be checking next time I strip a std MG motor.
