I rarely drive mine after dark these days, so hardly ever put the lights on.

Unlike modern cars with warning bleepers it's so easy to leave your lights on and come back hours later to a flat battery. Amazed if no one on hear has done that at least once!

So what do you do to remember to turn your lights off?

I remember as its seriously annoying to have a flat battery

Always shut everything off before the engine and never switch anything on before the engine off...old school like me simple

In theory you should check round your car before and after you go out...visual check tyres / lights...in the real world its not done

But it can help

Could run lights through a relay so only on with ignition. My 92 spi only worked on ignition but my 72 van was always live

Fit a 'security device' which cuts all power from the battery, hidden somewhere in the car and take key out everytime you get out and lock up. Then if you've left your lights on it won't matter :)

I have the extensions on the switches so it's pretty obvious when I turn the key off. It doesn't help if your GPS falls off the windscreen during the night and turns on the headlights though!
