Ive purchased replacement half floor assemblies with the outer sill attached from M Machine. Nice Fresh but bare metal!!

Before I fit them I intend to paint the cavity between inner and outer sill, however i'm drowning in research and cant decide where to start.

I plan to de-grease surfaces using thinners, should I then give it a rub over with with Scotch-Brite before applying primer?

Should I use an etch primer before applying a primer?

What type of primer should I use?  should I use a cellulose primer or is this porous?

Do I need to apply a top coat?

I was planning on using rattle cans for this, i do have access to one of those hobby sprayers if that opens up a wider range of paint to use.

finish is not important as it wont be seen.

bought SAS Zinc primer to flash over welds etc before having the car painted but I don't think this is suitable for finishing bare metal.

Looking forward to the advise.

I used cold galvanising spray paint on mine, hopefully will last well.

I rubbed down with scotch pads, gave the areas that will be welded a light coat of copper weld through primer. Then masked of these areas and gave it a light coat of Electrox (90% Zinc), then a heavy coat of epoxy primer. I used Jotun which is used on ships and oil rigs. I used a brush and mini roller so OK with an ordinary paint mask.
