When removing an outer sill just where do you grind the weld to free the sill from the mouth of the jacking point?

From the factory was it seam welding all the way round or just part of it?

On the new Heritage sill there is a bit of a wrap over but can't tell whether there was on the original.

I don't want to damage the jacking point as it's in good condition.

I would use a 36 grit flap wheel flat to the sill and remove the outer skin carefully, then remove rest of sill, my m machine floor assembly came with the sills mig welded all around the hole in sill and ground smooth to bore of the jacking point. Not sure if this is same as original,

I have removed the outer sill leaving just the metal surrounding the jacking point.

I've drilled all the spot welds surrounding the jacking point and the remaining metal is just held on by the seam welding surrounding the mouth of the jacking point. Not sure where to start attacking it first though, I want to damage the mount as little as possible.

The heritage sills have a reinforcement plate, with jack mount shaped hole, spot welded to the body of the sill.

The actual jacking point on the outer sill will have a doubler plate spot welded to it as standard.

The mount on the inner sill is spot welded to the inner sill and then by four spot welds to the outer sill via the two returns.

Now the inner sill mounting bracket i always seam weld just for a bit of extra strength. The outer sill i normally use four 1/4" plug welds for more strength.

So looking at this picture you will see the two returns where you will plug weld unless you have a combination inner outer sill from M Machine as its already attached.
