Hi

Im entered for this, organised by my local motor club - Brighton and Hove.

Its this coming Saturday - 4th Aug

My engine is a 1310 - piper cam - lcb, aldon, metro head negative camber suspension,  and all adjustable suspension geometry , spax adjustable shocks. AO800 tyres

Earlier this year I did an open pit  track day at Brands with a session and instructor .....and he recommended different tyre pressures to what I would use on road (higher on rears if I remember correctly).

Anyway - though I doubt it'll  make a jot of difference to my times  - its worth setting the car up for the track  as best I can.

 my question is...

What tyre pressures, and shock absorber settings,  (notches away from "rock ard" setting)  would you recommend for the sprint ? -

its a timed lap - we get x2 practice and x2 timed on the day

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt - Good luck with this! I will possibly come along and have a watch if i can make myself free. I'm sure someone will have an expert answer to your question but on the few track days i've done; i always go with 28 psi front and back. I generally have pretty hard settings on the road so don't change them for a track day but have 50% on the rear and about 70% on the front.

Funnily enough i recently brought a new book "how to prepare a historic racing mini" and it has a bit of info on this.

35 psi seems very high !? But seems like a choice whether you want it grippy on non-grippy!

Good reading also:

I think CR65s may be crossplies hence the higher pressure.  I run A008s and depending on how I want the car to handle use about 25psi.  On warm days perhaps less.  I compete in hillclimbs and sprints.  On a track perhaps more as you are more likely to want to stiffen the sidewall.
