Back window fitted

o/s door windows finished now with the new catches and runner fixed to the door

I haven't done the other side yet as there were 2 o/s/f catches in the kit and no n/s/f so one has been ordered.

I made a start on the flatting polishing.

Pretty standard affair

Flat paintwork

And machine polish

I then continued across the front of the car

And am now working down the n/s

More later.

Cheers Pat.

I ended up with a new rear screen rubber. The old one had gone hard so not only would have been difficult to fit, but would probably have leaked.

One question, why didn't you fill the extra windshield wiper holes in the scuttle?

I've been watching this one from the beginning and it turned out terrific, glad you went with something other than the green - not a fan of that color.

I wouldn't fill them unless I was specifically asked to.

They are all there from the factory with the spurious ones filled with grommets.

The Grey is rather nice isn't it. I think it was a good choice too.

Cheers

Ben

.maybe someone might want to convert it to LHD in the future

i quite liked the green to be honest, and quite practical as the dirt didn't show up too much, but i'm glad i changed my mind

I have now fitted the sill/arch trims

j9E3Wfu.jpg

And continued the repairs to the tailboard.

You may remember that I replaced the bottom section of the tailboard some time ago to solve a rust issue. The centre of the panel where it's set back was quite badly distorted and removing the bottom section to replace it didn't relieve the stretch from it and being double skinned, I had to settle for shrinking the panel and using pins to straighten it out.

I got it as far as I could and then finished it up by skimming the whole skin with body filler.

And then 3 coats of high build

PEkW5hh.jpg

Once that was cured, I blocked it and then applied the black surfacer. Once that was cured, I blocked that back and we have the finished repair

And then I sealed up the seams

Once dry, I masked up and applied Raptor to the inside. I figured that it would offer protection from scrapes when loading/unloading the truck and also tie in nicely with the load bed floor

eT83aPG.jpg

Then once dry, it was ready for top coat

aZzt24t.jpg

I also gathered up the last few items requiring top coat and prepped/etched those

TEoJGaH.jpg

And of course topcoated them

I've been following your thread and you have given me hope for a car that I'm fixing as the driver's door is jammed between the A and B plillars,
