If valve clearances are correct I'm going for worn rocker shaft as Bat suggested.

Worn rocker shaft? sounds like something i can sort out with a new set of rockers - what gives you that impression by the way?

Just a guess of course and you'll need to inspect it yourself.  They do wear and that can make it difficult to elliminate valve train noise.  I don't know if you're using the standard rocker shaft with your roller rockers or not - Minispares do a nice upgraded one at a very reasonable price if your rockers will fit.

don't think it is the shaft. sounds too fast for one rocker and I would expect more noise as most rocker shafts I have seen worn are worn fairly evenly.

I think either you or the man who can that you know need to do some investigative work to find out what the problem is as it's very hard to diagnose from a distance.

It sounds very tappety, could be several things combining to make the racket and strange running;

Worn rockers, bearings / bushes and shaft [as they are 1.5's] worn cam lobe and follower or 2

Maybe one thread would help.

I’d still be fitting a cover that is known not to be an issue, rather than one that is.

its not the rocker cover Graeme - yeah sorry theres 2 threads.

the more i hear about 1:5 1 rockers, the more i think they are to be avoided.

AC Dodd told me yesterday he never fits them on his cams.

Anyone make a suggestion for fast road cam and rocker combination?
