Hi guys, I,ve bought some HB body 989 epoxy primer after recommendations on here. My problem is that I cannot find any info. regarding the induction time required after mixing the 2 components. the paint supply didn,t know but said to mix & spray right away.

Having seesn lots of vids on youtube all state to leave mix standing for at least 10mins. the car at present is in zinc primer.

Hope you can help,

thanks in advance,

Johnno23

Not all such primers require induction time - some depend on the hardener used (they have different hardeners for flexible plastic and rigid surfaces.)

In the case of HB Body 989, the tech sheet indicates no induction time. Since pot life is 60 minutes you could let it sit for 10 min if you want, but it doesn't seem to be necessary. http://hbbody.ro/ima...ILL 989_tds.pdf

I have used that paint and it does build pretty well and is easy to block sand, I was impressed with it, I just mixed it and sprayed straight away, big advantage is epoxy only needs a good filter mask.

out of interest to what purpose are you using this product.

Assuming you know this product is not a build primer, for blocking out any repairs that have been done, it is simply a protection layer and better used WOW that way none of the protection is lost

If its 2k epoxy you will need forced air breathing. Having just read the spec sheet i would be very doubtful non forced air breathing is sufficient.

Hi sonikk, i,ve checked on various painting videos and hb989 does,nt contain isocyanites . It is 2k but means 2 components mix, therefore only requiring a good charcoai mask. the one I have is the Gerson 9000 so should be adequate for the small amount to be done. thanks for reply.

No worries, if in doubt at all then go for air fed. Better safe than sorry. I have 2K epoxy and for me i will wear an air fed mask.
