So, 998 a plus. On points.
Non ballast car 1976

New cap
New condensor

Tried different king/ht leads
Tried 1 other coil non ballast
Both coils 3.2ohms/12.35volts

Tested/Cleaned contact points (sparks with screwdriver)

Cleaned rotor arm

The carb I have completely stripped and checked over and is running an AAC needle.

Dash pot has correct oil

Plenty of compression on engine 60k on clocks

Spark plugs not new but cleaned with wire brush and got 12 spares to try

Checked ground strap

Getting lots of fuel.

Each spark plug has a spark but not a great spark in my opinion.

I've literally taken this out of a 1988 mini last Sunday so timing shouldn't be a problem theoretically. Pictures ar before I removed and now.

So has anyone got an idea of what the problem could be? Driving me up the wall

Thanks in advance!

Got the HT Leads on in the right order?

Have you got some Aero-start, or aerosol degreaser (or any flammable aerosol - even deodorant) ? squirt some (don't go ape) down the carb while turning it over and see if you can get a kick from it, it might help narrow down where to focus your attention.

Hi,

Compression test results?

Check valve clearances.

Check timing.

Check and adjust mixture with the lift pin method.

Cheers  :proud:

Has the dizzy been moved ?  It should be about 1/4 turn clockwise

Have you gapped the plugs ?

Hi,

Have you connected some wires to that coil?

Scrap that I've just re-read you've got a spark at the points!

Cheers  :proud:
