So I have a hazard warning light issue and MOT is in 3 weeks, so I got up early this morning, had a quick coffee and threw myself at the electrics. I am by no means skilled, but I can read the haynes manual and I called my brother to help me out (hes an electrician).

So we start around 9am, checking the hazard switches and cable, removing the dash and steering wheel column, checked all fuses and cables running in the engine bay etc. 3hrs later, its 12 noon and Im getting hungry. We finally found the flasher unit and saw that it was totally rusted and beaten up - so good for that, problem found - I hope. Just need to order one!

Now to the funny bit... Whilst going through all the cables etc, we found this funny looking stick. I looked like a miniature valve but made of plastic, with a metal ring towards the top. This "plug" was just stuck under the dash next to the steering wheel column, and we pulled it and had it laying outside the car as we thought it might just be a dash clip or w.e....

Fast forward, we started mounting everything, and then I go to start the car to get it back into the garage, and to make sure we didnt screw up anything. 1hr of panic "omg what did we do, did we rip a cable?" and checking for spark, nothing.... Just as I was gonna give up I had a thought "what if that plug is some sorta anti-theft switch" reached over to this plug thingy, stuck it back in... and then vroom.... the engine started.

Its now 3pm, Im making myself some breakfast and having a laugh at myself...
Hope your saturdays are just as eventful!
Luis
