Would the answer be to have a TMF show?

It is not cheap or easy to run a Mini show which is open to the public anymore, even a large long established club like the MCR has troubles organising the Beaulieu Show each year, eg. finding reliable volunteers to help run the event, following health and safety rules, liability insurance, food & drink vendors, toilet facilities, etc not to mention the financial risks for the club if enough people don't turn up and pay at the gate to cover the costs for hiring the event venue......

Yes I understand that just thinking out loud.

I'd be happy to have few, bigger but more shared shows.

Other classics will be struggling just as much as the mini scene is. I'd happily go to a mini show that was shared with Beetles and Escorts or other classics, but not binis as i just dont see them as a classic car. Nor do i see Binis having a similar "scene"

If MITP became Retro in the Park it could be more feasible with loads more to do. Split them in to different sections and you're on to a winner.

Even the same with track days, have times where its just minis, just fords, just VWs, then an open time where its any.

I’ve stopped going to mini only shows with the exception of L2B as I live just along the coast so drive straight to Brighton for a day out with the family. Went to MITP about 6 years ago at Santa Pod, and wasn’t impressed much then. It’s was great when it was at Cornbury Park (is that correct?)

Generally the whole mini scene has moved on. Younger drivers can now easily buy (and insure) R50 MINIs which can still be modded fairly easily. And I can’t help but think that parents prefer their kids to buy MINIs instead of Minis due to better safety, less risk of rust, easier to repair etc

I’m fairly lucky as there are quite a few small scale cars shows that are fairly local. Weirdly Facebook events are proving the best place to advertise these events.

There are many large and small classic car shows around the country, one of the biggest is the long established 'Bromley Pageant' at which Minis are welcome (see link below) but although you will find quite a few Minis attending they never turn up in the numbers seen at the dedicated Mini shows. In many ways we as Mini enthusiasts are exceptionally lucky to have such a wide choice of dedicated shows all over the country but as the number of everyday Minis declines we may have to accept shows will be smaller or fewer in number, as was the case before the Mini 20th at Donnington in 1979 which first showed there was enough of a demand to support a Mini show scene in the UK. However Beaulieu was very well attended this year by Mini's and MINI's so the quality Mini shows are still thriving!

This was one of the first Mini Shows below back in the early 1980's, run by Chris Cheal which eventually grew into the National Mini Show at Stamford Hall....

I see a lot of complaining but TMF offered members the chance to display their car free of charge.

We booked a 20 car stand and could have fitted a lot more on as well.

There is no point in complaining about the amount of binis if the classic owners aren't willing to display their cars.

We've always supported MITP and will continue to do so.

Very true......MITP also received exceptional sponsorship promotion in all 3 Kelsey Mini & MINI magazines with a 30 page MITP Show Guide/Map/Programme included free with each magazine in the month before the event.

This year I went in the classic but normally I pick a modern mini. I like that both new and old minis are there as I've an interest in both as quite a lot of people own both.

I'm not actually a fan of mitp though. I don't really like the drag strip, I hate the jet car and hate the show in general but I go because I get to meet up with lots of people I know
