Nice van, I saw that for sale a few months ago!
Mini K van, has the 4 syncro remote box. You will need to get floor pans locally as we had a different ribbed section than the Uk floors. The front doors are the only other unique body parts.
Have fun with it!!!

So is there a difference between the 4 syncro and the magic wand box as I was under the impression that my van was a magic wand?

Check the gearbox casing number. It should be 22g1228 (I think!) That will be 4 syncro casing. There will be a metal plate that bolts to the diff housing that holds the gearstick. It will go through the same hole in floor as a wagic wand shift, but they called it a 'pudding stirrer' instead.

Is there any way to improve the shifting on these magic wand / pudding stirrer boxes if rebuilt properly?

If rebuilt properly then it should be ok. Depends on what you're expecting out of it, thats all. If you get a remote extension though that will be the best one out of all.

This is great thanks.  I think I will stick with the original configuration and if it is truly shocking then I will look into something like the remote extension.

It will always be dirty, even after you wash it!!!
Did you order the panels local or from the Uk? I just got a quote for freight from a Uk supplier for some panels and the price was horrendous. Having to rethink now...

I ordered the panels through Lincoln @ Aus Mini Spares.  I want to try and keep everything as local as possible.  I will probably order the 7 Port head direct from Pierce Manifolds in USA though.

I own a Black Land Rover at the moment, and my last one was too - intact my last 3 motorbikes were black come to think of it so I know the down falls well, they just look so good!

My initial thoughts are its a fair bit of time and money for a gain that wouldn't be much. The room in a round nose is not as much as a clubman so its a tight fit. A mate of mine put one in his GT, absolutely hammers but its a 1340. He had to spend heaps on the head as there were a lot of issues with spring heights etc.
Personally I would spend the money modifying your existing head, matching it with a suitable cam and choose whatever intake that takes your fancy. Just my opinion!!
