Mpi? Spi? Stupidest Question

what type is a normal HIF44 carb engine?

 

probably get mocked for this, but ive never had to chose parts wise before.

 

can someone tell me the diference? if a normal single carb a single point injection?

a carb is a carb  Single Point Injection and Multi Point Injection are not.

Hi,

A carb is similar to SPI in that the fuel is sprayed onto the butterfly but that's the only similarity...

so when im looking at hose kits  - there are mpi, spi and 998-1100 kist available, nothing for 1275s?

Being an old wrinkly I get then same, don't know the names of these new fangled parts most of the time

 

HIF carb is from a larger engine than 1275 originally probably a maxi 1500/1750cc.

Minis use them they took the part of twin carbs just a bit better no need for tuning up  every couple of months

 

hose kits most all fit the same 998/1100 will do yah

the only difference between the 998/1098 to the "standard" 1275 ín the water hoses is the rad top hose.

the only difference between the 998/1098 to the "standard" 1275 ín the water hoses is the rad top hose.

 

Clubman top hoses are a bit longer as well

thought that where fitted as factory on the 1990 standard 1275 coppers and metros
